Entry for May 4, 2008

Well it looks a little like spring, but it's been chilly for the beginning of May.   I am getting ready to go down to the shop this early sunday morning and wanted to do a little catching up here.

We will be firing another load in the next week or so, and so I have been busy slip trailing , also working on a couple of sculptures.  I am not any less busy since I quit the other job, and I wonder where thetime goes. Only a month before graduation, so I need to get busy cleaning and finish my  graduation announcement project.  Celebrated Lily's 18th bday yesterday, and I guess the celebration will go on today, since she worked yesterday.  Again, where does the time go! I got so misty looking at her baby pictures.

Sales are steady online thanks to my loyal Etsy customers.  I highly recommend this site for any of you who wish to find an online venue for handmade work.  It is nothing short of revolutionary for the crafts person. Yesterday I was featured on anothers blog. http://izile.blogspot.com

hope that link works.  I am thrilled to have been picked!  It's a great community there, and I just can't say enough about what it has done for my business.

I am still waiting to hear from Stockholm art fair, and really want to be a part of that, since we do so few shows anymore.  I know I could have signed up for more, but just the thought of doing more of them makes me tired.  I noticed a flyer in the mail from Stillwater Rivertown Art fest, and they  were asking for more artists.  Post deadline. Another show that didn't get enough entries.  This seems to be a trend, and in their case, I can see why.  I was suprised to even get a notice, because when we pulled out early the last time we were there I figured we would not ever be welcome again.  This is just my opinion, but some of these shows have to think about being more artist friendly, and treating the  craftspeople more like a valuable asset than a sideshow.   I don't miss any of it. I would rather spend my time in studio, or out in the garden.   I was out weeding the iris yesterday, and the ground is still suprisingly cold!  I am also thinning daylillies, and might try to sell some on etsy, first I have to check out regulations regarding plants.   Hve a great rest of the weekend!
