Well it's been a busy week! The snow finally melted, but the ground is still pretty cold. I have almost weeded the grass out of the Iris, and it looks like most of them lived. Daylilies next. Potatoes and onions can go in as soon as I can get it tilled. I am putting a lettuce and herb garden up here by the house. Also, I am going to try growing potatoes in old hay, I heard you could do that.
I was featured in another blog by a fellow Etsian! Junkmostwonderous picked our work to feature. I am just thrilled to be picked among the great work at Etsy. The handmade movement is getting a life of it's own! Of course I have lived it all my life. One of my goals in life was to have everything I used and lived with handmade. I have come pretty close, thanks to the art fairs and festivals we attended for so many years, I was able to buy and trade things like handcarved cooking utensils, soaps, handwoven clothing and scarves, and of course pottery. I bought a beautiful mug from this shop on Etsy last week, and I just love it. AmyEsther Ceramics I try to buy something at least once a month at Etsy, just to give back to a great community there.
Well the kiln firing went well, except for the rain that began late Saturday afternoon. We unloaded it yesterday and there is a new page with some snapshots of theMay firing on my website. I was really happy with the sculptures that came out. The pottery was great too, Lots of grat flashing. Good glazes. It got pretty hot in some areas and melted the slip trailing. Paul will be in Maiden Rock WI for the Fresh Art Tour this weekend. And we are still making more pots for the June firing.
