This is the third picture of this painting. I think it's done. It is a part of my tree assignment I gave myself. Whenver I was painting something, the background was always an afterthought. I decided to learn the different trees, and to give them their own personalities. You can see as this one progressed, I opened up the branches and let more of the background show through. It is a poplar tree, a very common tree around here. The poplar is a sof wood that is one of the first to appear in a new growth area. They make way for, and serve to protect the younger, slower growing trees. When I was young I called them money trees, because their leaves shimmer in the sun like big coins. They are also known as quaking aspen.
I know a guy that lives in a 80 year old cabin made with Poplar logs. A lot of them are harvested for paper pulp. Well on to the next tree... tomorrow I'll try to start my sub notes!!
Today's sub note! Some days are real easy. today three hours in computer lab!!!! I'm going out to enjoy the springlike weather!!
