School is almost out! this is the last week. I'm pretty much done working for the year. I've applied for a couple of jobs, haven't heard from either. I really want to retire from subbing. I am considering going back to school. But now it's summer and it's time to make pottery! Or in my case sculptures. Paul is on his way to Door County today to visit a gallery that buys our stuff. In many ways we are retired from the "show circuit" and I don't think we'll ever be into it as much as we were in the nineties. That's ok tho' when we quit the company we kinda jumped off a cliff and I have to remind myself that we're still sailing through the air!!! From time to time grabbing a branch and hanging there, then off again into the unknown. The comfort of the steady income was outweighed by my sense that things just weren't right. Like the way we used out recources. Clay is mined from the ground, and I didn't want to waste it pumping out lesser quality work. Our new kiln will burn wood , not propane. Our focus is on quality work and educating. When money is tight, i stop and reflect how much our lives have changed since the hectic days of travel, employees, partners, and shows, and I really am grateful I am here right now!
