Happy New Year! Finally we got our snow! It immobilized us last night, we stayed home and watched movies. I don't know if anybody stayed up till midnight. I know I didn't. It was a thick slushy snow that is probably freezing as I write, but it was so beautiful!
I never realised how much I loved winters. I set certain projects aside all year to do them when I'm "snowed in" and it's been so nice out I haven't been able to do any of them. Like finishing the paintings I started last year! But of course the mild winter is reflected in our heating bills, and it is a relief to be paying less for at least one thing!
I have also come up with a couple of resolutions, one being to budget my time more wisely. I can sit around and whine because I don't have time to work in the studio, or I can make the time. I have some sculptures to make for people and things to decorate. It's not the blogging or web maintainance that takes up the time here, but I have gotten on the discussion boards at a popular online auction, and it does eat up my time.right now I am trying to figure out why a certain book falsely represents salt glazed stoneware......I'll elaborate when I find out for sure what's up with that. Anyway I have work that takes up about 30 hours a week. So I'm taking away my TV time , and working evenings in the shop. Giving myself regular hours. Another part time job. My online chat buddies already know that I have dissappeared from sight at this time , and I apologise for that! chatting will be fit back into the schedule soon.
With the kiln working again, I am going to have to write everybody that's been waiting for things, and get Paul to make the stuff that's back ordered or was destroyed in the last three firings.
Now we are getting ready to start entering shows for next summer. I am taking pics of the new pots. Finding out how to make slides. Or order them. A lot of shows take online entries, and that is a lot easier, but I'm not sure how to get slides made.....kind of a dinosaur technology..
Happy 2007!!!!!
