The picture I took on a Sunday morning nature walk.  I was looking for  Buggy who ran off. I was thinking about  how that back pasture had really grown into a transitional forest in 15 short years. Wondering if any of the old flowers were still there. And pop there's the Blue Gentian! I love this wildflower.   I saw a flock of Sandhill Cranes that morning and a Redstart warbler. My first sighting of that bird on our property.

After that it was kiln firing time....Paul had been stoking it all night, so he was a tired guy. I helped stoke through the morning and neighbors Sid and Deb came back later to help finish it off. At the end we did add salt. Paul directed our actions, but did not do it himself. He was not planning on using salt in this one, since he did not want to build another kiln in his lifetime. So he mused how throwing salt in was like offering a guy a beer a year after he'd sworn off the stuff.   As I write he is unloading it so I am kinda itchy to get down there. I'll be back withpics later
